Chocolate Oatmeal Cake Recipe
Chocolate Oatmeal Cake Ingredients
1 cup Oatmeal (If using minute oatmeal, chop it up in small pieces before soaking it up in hot water.)
1 1/2 cups Boiling Water
1/2 cups Crisco shortening
1 1/2 cups Granulated white sugar
2 Eggs
1 cup Sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cups Powdered cocoa
1 teaspoons Soda
1/2 teaspoons Salt
1 teaspoons Vanilla
Chocolate Oatmeal Cake Frosting Ingredients
1 cup Sifted powdered sugar
2 cups Coconut
2 tablespoons Butter
1/2 cups Milk
Pecans (chopped) Vanilla
Chocolate Oatmeal Cake Directions
Mix oatmeal and boiling water and let cool.
Cream shortening with sugar and eggs, add rest of ingredients along with oatmeal mixture.
Beat till smooth.
Bake in 8×12 greased pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
Frosting: Mix powdered sugar, butter and milk and boil till thick (about 6 minutes).
Be carefully it doesn’t get too hot and burn on the bottom, you must continue to stir constantly.
Add coconut, pecans and vanilla.
