hehe, you must be useing a MIX (with sugar and other chemicals) instead of Hershey’s coco powder which is just cocoa.

Because hot cocoa mix is a mixture of cocoa powder, sugar and powdered milk. There isn’t as much cocoa powder in it as there is sugar and milk. The milk makes it light. Use unsweetened cocoa powder if you want it to be dark and taste right.

I agree with the first two there…cocoa powder is dark. What you are using is a mixture…won’t come out as dark at all.

Dont use hot cocoa mix! use regular cocoa powder because the mix has other ingredients in it( sugar, preservatives) that effect the way a cake comes out.

try to use chocolate chips instead of cocoa powder. try this recipe by nigella lawson
Choco-Hoto-Pots
Ingredients
•Butter for ramekins
•3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
•1 stick (4 ounces) unsalted butter
•2 large eggs
•3/4 cup superfine sugar
•3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
•1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Directions
1.Place baking sheet in an oven preheated to 350°. Butter four 2/3-cup ramekins and set aside.
2.Using a microwave oven or double boiler, melt together the semisweet chocolate and the butter. Set aside to cool.
3.In a separate bowl, combine eggs, sugar and flour. Add cooled chocolate mixture, and mix until blended. Fold in white chocolate chips.
4.Divide mixture evenly among ramekins and place on baking sheet. Bake until tops are shiny and cracked and chocolate beneath is hot and gooey, about 20 minutes. Place each ramekin on a small plate with a teaspoon and serve, reminding children that ramekins and chocolate are hot.
hope can solve your problem. if can’t let me know.
