Mayonnaise in German Chocolate cake?
Question by Ashley D: Mayonnaise in German Chocolate cake?
I am wanting to make a homemade German Chocolate cake for Thanksgiving. I have had it before and it has been very dry. I googled how to get a moist cake and saw where there were recipes for “chocolate mayonnaise cake” where it calls for 3/4 cup of mayo in place of the oil and eggs. I also saw a site where a lady said she puts 1/4 of mayo in any cake she makes and it is always SO moist. I don’t have time to do a “trial run” on this cake – so I am wondering if I made the German Chocolate cake would it hurt to add 1/4 cup mayo along with the eggs and oil or what? I know A LOT of people are going to gag and so gross about mayo in the cake – I get that and so you don’t have to post that – just serious answers please! :) Happy Thansgiving! :)

Happy THanksgiing to you too! Mayo won’t even be detected. Another alternative is what my best friend does with all her cakes, although she always uses mixes. She always adds an extra 1/4 cup of oil. Everyone raves about her cakes and I’m the only one that knows that Betty Crocker and Wesson are her sous chef’s. *s*

coconut pecan frosting to go with our Christmas dinner tomorrow – it’s in a 9×13 covered cake pan. Is it better to store at room temperature or should I keep it in the refrigerator until then?
