Question by Gryffidor Through and Through: I really want a chocolate cake for my birthday, but I want the frosting to be pink?
Is there anything I can do to make the chocolate frosting turn pink? I don’t want to use white chocolate, since it’s really not chocolate-y.
Lmao, I guess I need to be more specific. I want the FROSTING to be chocolate/pink.

5 Fuss-Free And Really Creepy Halloween Treats To Prepare!
Category: Articles
Kids enjoy special treats during Halloween – but usually it takes some time in creating those spooky meals, it might seem like its impossible or such a burden to do but NO. Here are 5 quick & easy food suggestions for your Halloween. Creating them will seem effortless and they can be easy to prepare, it’s even easy for your older group of kids to create the treats themselves.
Eye Ball Rice Cake Treats
These treats are tasty, crunchy and they definitely look disgusting! Align the treats onto one plate then using some squeezy bottled ketchup, trace red lines across the plate for it to appear like a spider. Cut into circles some cheese for that violent yellow pupil look, then top it with 1 slice of pepperoni or salami. Feel free to vary the eye ball treats with different kinds of elements, prefer choosing those that kids surely love.
Ghostly Burger Treats
Cook burgers. During cooking, create or trace out ghostly shapes of cheese using some Halloween molders or with the use of some template. Then cut two eye holes. Once they’re done, arrange each cheese with ghostly shapes on top then quickly cook them using a grill or a broiler until cheese starts to melt.
Guts Jello
Mix some yellow or green jelly then pour them in suitable Halloween containers, you may use goblet shaped containers that looks grand, but plastic cups would work. Once ready, drop some plastic spiders on top in every container. Allowing them to stand each alongside every plate while scattering some extra spiders will enhance that spooky effect.
Mashmallow Ghouls and Ghosts
During the event invite a group of kids who want to be involved in the festivities to make this activity easy and fun. Melt chocolates (white) or chips of chocolates (white) into a microwaveable bowl then microwave these for one to two minutes. While waiting, string some marshmallows (white) on each lollipop or popsicle stick.
Then dip each marshmallow on some chocolate (melted) while swirling them around ensuring total coverage of every ghost heads. Take the treats out then put them flat onto each paper plate for chocolate to cool. Prior to it cooling, push two silver pieces of balls to serve as eyes.
You may use some writing frosting tube to create one mouth also include some features that you like. Create each ghoul using multi-colored marshmallows. Then thread each of the marshmallows onto sticks then add a bit of green food coloring unto chocolate (melted) prior to swirling each of the marshmallows, to ensure total surface coverage.
Use two silver pieces of balls to serve as their eyes just like what we did earlier, and then add a bit of decoration as well: for example, we made strawberry strands of candy appear to look like its hair; we could have included some drops of chocolate for those ears if only we had not already eaten all! Allow your chocolate to cool just like before

Diabetic Birthday Cake Recipes ? Can you really enjoy cakes as well as desserts when you have diabetes?
Category: Articles
Once you fully grasp the particular impact that diabetes has on your whole body, you can learn the way your day-to-day diet works with your personal condition; and simply plan meals, and eat sweets that you simply never thought possible.
Let’s have an overview look into what diabetes is.
Your body releases glucose (a simple sugar) from food items you eat which it uses for energy levels – bit like fuel for the automobile. The glucose, which your body produces, goes into the cells inside your system and the cells then utilize the glucose for fuel and energy levels. The hormone called Insulin is one thing your body makes on auto-pilot and it also assists the glucose move into the body cells.
Diabetes is known as a condition that occurs when the glucose is unable to enter into your cells, due to the fact that either there is not adequate insulin within the body to assist the glucose, or even no insulin at all; or there is enough insulin but there is a different biological reason why the glucose can’t transfer to your cells.
If this is the case, that’s the reason somebody with diabetic issues is required to regulate his or her blood sugar levels “manually” as opposed to leaving it to their very own system to manage it. As for everybody, it’s important that you simply organize what food you’re eating by understanding what food creates glucose by learning exactly what carbs, sugars and nutrients do to your blood glucose levels.
Does it mean that a person with diabetic issues cannot eat sugar at all – so they are unable to eat cake or sweets?
There are several outdated sayings, still about, that are convinced that an individual having diabetes cannot have any sugar at all, at any time. This is really not true. Like all good well balanced healthy diets, an individual with diabetic issues simply has to plan his or her menu in advance as well as eating things in moderation.
Having a number of tasty recipes available that are simple to bake, have simple ingredients, with incredibly tasty results has just got a whole lot simpler with a free dessert recipe for diabetics booklet. (For US visitors only).
Is it possible to make a reduced sugar, yummy as well as completely scrumptious diabetic chocolate cake?
The fundamental idea to diabetic dishes is to have a lesser amount of sugar yet not to forfeit any of the sweetness to the taste. Trial and error with a reduced amount of sugar or sweetners may take quite a while with results tasting anywhere from a little strange to totally inedible.
However, this is not always happen. With many really good quality recipes you can still create yummy diabetic chocolate cake along with other great diabetic sweets that may be eaten by both a diabetic as well as the whole family. Good sense would tell us that every one of us could have much less sugar within our diet plan – necessary for the diabetic in the family but great for everybody – particularly if they won’t taste the difference!

Five Really Handy Cake Products
Category: Articles
Those who love to bake cakes know that itís actually a combination of culinary science and pure art. While cake baking isnít difficult, it does take skill, attention, and an artistís eye. Who doesnít want to make a cake that isnít only tasty, but stunning to look at as well? Luckily, a variety of handy tools exist to help bakers easily create a delectable dessert that looks beautiful, too. Here are five of the best cake products around:
Cake Pan Strips
Cake batters vary from thin sponges to dense fruitcakes, favourite cake pans can be of varying thicknesses throughout the pan sides, and ovens can have hotspots that that cause uneven baking. All of these problems leave the baker with layers that may taste delicious, but that are cracked on top, humped, or sunken in the middle. Each of those problems can hinder decorative efforts. Itís easy to remedy, though: make sure to protect layers as they bake by placing cake pan strips around the walls of the cake pan. Most of these protective strips can be dampened, then easily fastened around each pan. Pans are kept evenly heated, moisture content stays right, and layers keep a beautiful, flat surface ready to be filled and iced.
Cooling Racks
Let those lovely even layers cool down properly by placing them on wire cooling racks, another fabulous cake baking product. Cakes cool more quickly on racks, and the underneath of the layer wonít become soggy with condensation. If space is a consideration, use the stacking racks that let more than one layer cool at once on the same piece of bench space.
Cake Release Spray
Nice even layers can come to ruin if they wonít come out of the pan after proper cooling. Keep cake release spray on hand, and spray the pan or mould thoroughly before spooning in the cake batter. It works on all pan types and any type of batter, even those with a delicate crumb or a dense, rich texture. Intricate moulds are no problem when using this spray, yet this is a natural product, usually combining superfine wheat starch with vegetable oil. The results with using the spray are dramatically better than the old ìgrease and flourî method.
Cake Movers
Once the layers are baked, cooled and ready for decorating, they still must be moved, and this is a bit of a dangerous time for the baker. Regular spatulas are too small to move a cake layer without cracking it. Turning the layer out on a plate and then flipping the plate is one way to get the layer right-side up, but it isnít precise enough to place one layer atop another, or to move a finished cake, and much of the browned crumb will stick to a plate and make the layer rough and gouged, causing problems when fondant or icing is added later. A cake mover, a rather mysterious sounding cake product, is like a super-spatula, in rectangular and round shapes, designed just for the purpose of moving layers. It is angled to slip underneath the layer and support it completely while itís being moved and placed.
Cake Boards
A cake needs a completely flat surface so that decorating, serving, and storage wonít crack layers or cause them to slip off. Plates arenít completely flat, but cake boards are, and they come in both disposable and re-usable types. Many of the disposable cake boards come in elegant colours including silver and gold, and often feature scalloped edges, too, to give the cake a very professional, finished look. The cake stays flat and safe atop the cake board, and can be transported easily. Best of all, the cake can be presented beautifully and easily served right from the cake board.
These are just five handy cake products for those who love to bake cakes for friends and family. Cake baking is a labour of love, but it doesnít have to be difficult or frustrating with the right products to help.

So am I really a big meanie? (Please read the question before answering) ;>)?
Category: QA
I have always been rather conscious of what my daughter eats (we eat mostly organic and natural/whole products wherever possible). She is 20 months old and she has never had candy, only has a couple tastes of frosting or cool whip on holidays or birthday parties. We don’t do chocolate milk or sugary snacks, etc. You get the idea.
Well lately I have been realizing (and quite surprised) that other parents often give their little ones candy, cookies, cakes, etc. This became especially apparent to me at Halloween this year when I took my daughter trick-or-treating and I saw all the little toddlers – barely able to walk – eating candy from their bags! I mentioned to one lady whose house we stopped at, that there were only going to be a couple more years when I’ll be the one who gets the candy (with a chuckle). She actually scoffed at me and said I was too strict and that my daughter should be able to eat the candy once she is old enough to say “trick-or-treat” (which she was able to do this past Halloween). I was so taken aback, both by the woman’s boldness and the idea that I just walked away with my daughter. My own mother even said I was a meanie and my sister called me a candy nazi!
So after attending play-dates lately where the parents also give their toddlers all sorts of sweets I have to wonder… am I really a big meanie? I mean, I’m not depriving her of anything. She can’t miss what she’s never known, right? Do you give your baby/toddler candy and sweets? At what age did you start?
But my point is, I’m not saying “no, no, no.” She doesn’t ask for it because I haven’t introduced it into her diet yet.
Noah’s Mommy & Marine… – You said “personally it’s a little weird(and wrong, I suppose) to take a child trick or treating if you’re not going to give them any of the candy” – I think that’s a little harsh. My daughter had a blast trick-or-treating this year. She went up to the doors, knocked and said “trick-or-treat” and even got to practice her please and thank yous. She had no idea there was candy inside those pretty wrappers – she was just excited to enjoy the activity. I don’t think there’s anything “weird” or “wrong” with my not letting her eat the candy. I think maybe all your “top contributor” status (LOL) is maybe giving you a bit of a high and mighty attitude. It takes a pretty rude person to call me “weird” or “wrong” for allowing my daughter to enjoy the holiday just not eat the unhealthy candy. Back when you and I were newbies on Y!A you didn’t treat people like that (just FYI).
Yes, I will give her treats in moderation eventually, when she figures out what they are and begins asking. I’m certainly not out to deprive her. For now she considers her yogurt or cut up fruits (which she gets at the end of most meals) to be her dessert/treat.
Hannah’s Mommy – No, I definitely don’t freak out if someone offers her a treat. I do however think it’s inappropriate for someone to offer a treat to someone else’s child without OK-ing it with the mom first, especially if she’s right there in the room; but that’s a different thing. My mom often tries to give her sweets and I just calmly say something like “OK, Avary can have a tiny taste but she knows we don’t eat lots of sugar – she’s sweet enough already” or something like that.
“Noah’s Mommy” – And there you go again. I’m not throwing a “hissy” or anything of the sort. I simply called you out for being rude. There is no call for saying it’s “weird” and “wrong” for me to bring my daughter trick-or-treating just for the fun of it and not giving her the candy. That’s all I am saying. I have no problem with opinions, just people who look down their nose at others. There is never an excuse for rudeness and it just seems that whenever you do answer one of my questions you have at least some little petty thing to say. I usually ignore it but I just said something this time. I know you are on here 24/7 and you often have good advice on things. I enjoy Y!A as well, but I left for a few months because I just didn’t like all the high school drama (well that and my stalker, following me around trying to get my questions and answers deleted). Maybe that’s why I’m more sensitive to it right now. When I get a little “me time” I just want to enjoy it. Take care.

Anybody have ideas and/or recipes for a really special birthday cake?
Category: QA
On Friday, we’re having a birthday party for two of my friends. I love to make and decorate cakes so I’m usually the cake-maker, and I try to make each one as special and yummy as possible. Inspiration has failed me so far, and I’m getting desperate. Only two more days!
HELP! It only needs to be big enough to serve 10 people, and all ten of us like it all–nobody hates chocolate or carrot cake or has any food allergies or anything, so all suggestions will be gladly received!
Thanks lots!

Then we also started playing games and the winner would get a big bag of candy. Scince we were all ready pigging out and thought it was fun they would eat the whole thing most of us won about 3-5 times. The bags are like thooses bags people use on halloween.
